Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about buying and selling on FoodQual.
For Buyers
How do I place an order?
Browse by category or search for a specific product. Add items to your basket and proceed to checkout. You'll need to create an account or sign in, then enter your delivery details and pay securely via PayFast.
How fresh is the produce?
All produce is listed directly by the farmer and typically dispatched within 24–48 hours of harvest. You'll see the harvest date on each product listing.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept card payments, instant EFT, SnapScan, and Zapper via PayFast. Cash on delivery is available in select areas.
How is my order delivered?
Orders are delivered via our courier partner Bob Go. Delivery fees and timeframes are calculated at checkout based on your location.
What if my produce arrives damaged or spoiled?
Report any quality issues within 24 hours of delivery via WhatsApp or email with a photo of the affected produce and your order number. We'll arrange a refund or replacement promptly.
Can I buy directly from a specific farmer?
Yes — each product listing shows the farmer's name. You can browse all products from a specific farmer by clicking their name on any listing.
For Farmers
How do I register as a farmer?
Click 'Sell on FoodQual' in the navigation and complete the registration form. You'll need a valid SA ID, proof of bank account, and proof of farming activity. Our team reviews applications within 5–7 working days.
How much does it cost to sell on FoodQual?
The Starter plan is completely free. You only pay a 10% commission when you make a sale — you never pay for a feature you're not using. Growth (R99/mo) and Pro (R249/mo) plans offer additional features.
When do I get paid?
Payouts are processed weekly to your verified South African bank account. You keep 90% of every sale.
What documents do I need to register?
You'll need: a valid South African ID or passport, proof of bank account, and proof of farming activity (such as a land lease, utility bill for the farm address, or a letter from a recognised agricultural body).
Can I sell if I don't have reliable internet?
Yes. FoodQual supports WhatsApp-based order notifications and our platform is designed to work in low-connectivity areas. Field agents are available in select regions to assist with onboarding.
How do I set my own prices?
You have full control over your listing prices. FoodQual only deducts the 10% commission after a sale is made — we never dictate what you charge.
